Work Shift: FLEX (Fri to Sun) Day or Swing Work Hours: 5:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Wage Range: 10 (work 36 hours, paid for 40)

FLSA: Non-exempt

Job Summary:
Assists operators to set up CNC Press Brake or burn table machines in the manufacture of parts for heavy machinery. Will load and unload burn tables or Press Brake machines. Will clean parts following machining process. Will perform basic welding of small parts. Will assist various operators in the manufacture of parts as needed to meet production demands.

A. REQUIREMENTS:
Experience/Knowledge –
• Minimum 3 yrs. experience in a steel warehouse or other related heavy industry production facility.
• Fork lift and Jib crane experience required.
• Basic welding skills.
• Good knowledge of and experience working with steel.
• Knowledge of safe operation of hand tools, grinders, etc.
Job related skills –
• Must be safety oriented - will be operating press brake, jib crane and fork lift.
• Fabrication skill preferred, but not required, for understanding layout.
• Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and B.O.M.s.
• Must be able to work efficiently and accurately to keep up with production requirements.
• Material handling skills.
Education –
• Ability to read, write and perform simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, understand fractions and able to convert decimals into inches).
• Must be able to understand measurements.
Learning Ability - Quick learner. Parts are unique to manufactured equipment and change orders are frequent. May be trained to operate various machines or equipment.
Personality - Able to cope with pressures and deadlines. Flexible, able to adapt to rapidly changing situations. Must be able to follow oral and/or written directions accurately.
Communications Skills: Must be able to demonstrate skill in communicating with supervisors and co-workers. Must express criticisms & concerns in a way that promotes teamwork and a positive work environment.

B. DUTIES:
Essential Functions:
• Crane operation and minimal fork lift operation.
• Safe operation of all hand tools and equipment.
• Identify and number material for fabrication, as well as material to be sent out for further machining.
• May learn to operate computer numeric controlled machinery as needed to meet production.
• Basic welding skill.

Non-essential Functions:
Miscellaneous other duties as directed by the plant superintendent.

1. Sitting - Intermittent
Surface - primarily concrete or steel

2. Standing - Continuous
Surface - primarily concrete floor.

3. Walking - Occasional
Surface - primarily concrete floor. Intermittently on graveled ground.
Distance - 1 ft. to 500 ft. at a time.

4. Lifting - Continuous
Weight - up to 30 lbs.
Objects lifted - include, but not limited to structural steel, small steel parts and miscellaneous parts and other objects.
Intermittent over-head lifting
(Many parts weigh much in excess of 60 lbs. They can be lifted with a jib crane or forklift. Some parts/pieces of steel under 60 lbs. can also be lifted with a crane or forklift.)
Intermittent over-head lifting.

Forklifts and cranes must not be operated unless training and permission have been obtained from the shop superintendent.

5. Carrying - Continuous
Weight - up to 30 lbs.
Objects carried - include, but not limited to pumps, pieces of steel, large sheaves, misc. parts and other objects.
Distance - 15 - 20 ft.
Many parts weigh much in excess of 60 lbs. They can be carried with a cart, crane, fork lift or hand truck. Some parts under 60 lbs. can also be carried with a crane, cart, fork lift or hand truck.

Forklifts and cranes must not be operated unless training and permission have been obtained from the shop superintendent.

6. Pushing/Pulling - Continuous
Weight - up to 600 to 1000 lbs. on infeed and outfeed rolls.
Objects pushed or pulled - include, but not limited to structural steel, miscellaneous parts and other objects.
Distance - 15 ft. to 20 ft.

Forklifts and cranes must not be operated unless training and permission have
been obtained from the shop superintendent.

7. Reaching/Handling with both hands and arms - Continuous
Distance - varies a few inches to four feet.

8. Repetitive fine manipulation of hands - Frequently to continuous. 25% of working time is spent pulling and positioning pieces of steel onto saw. 25% of working time is spent removing steel from saw or burn tables.

9. Bending/Squatting - Frequently

10. Twisting, bending from waist and knees - Occasional

11. Climbing - Intermittent, if ever.

12. Crawling - Intermittent, if ever.
Surface - primarily on concrete floor.

13. Environmental factors - Indoors; yet exposed to heat and cold (when overhead doors are left open), humidity, noise, welding lights, grinding dust, vibration, fumes and oil. Hearing protection and eye protection must be worn at all times in shop or production areas. Safety-toed work shoes/boots are required to be worn in shop or production areas.

14. Machines/Tools/Equipment used as part of the job.
Include, but not limited to fork lifts, cranes, sanders, electric and air grinders, all hand tools required for cutting (vice grips, wrenches, calculator, square, layout tools and measuring tapes, etc.)
